I feel it is important to note that the length of time you book your session is your length of time on the table. Please plan to spend some additional time before and after your session so I can complete your pre- and post-assessments.

WaitingI will greet you in the reception area and have you fill out a client information form (new clients only). Next we will go to my therapy space to discuss your intake form. This allows me time to determine if you are free of contraindications that may cause harm if you receive bodywork or that may require special precautions. This also allows you an opportunity to communicate your goals for the session, whether they are totally focused on relaxation, have a more therapeutic focus, or a combination. If you are a returning client, the session will begin with a pre-assessment and a brief discussion of your goals and progress since your last session.

After a discussion of your intake form and/or goals and completion of your pre-assessment, I will leave the room to allow you to undress privately. I respect your modesty and ask that you undress only to your comfort level. At this time you should also take off any jewelry that may interfere with the therapy session. Once disrobed, you will lie underneath a sheet on the massage therapy table. The sheet is used for draping and to insure modesty during the massage. Only the area worked on is exposed at one time. If you tend to get chilly during your massage and bodywork sessions you are welcome to request blankets or a table warmer.

Whether your goal is wellness/relaxation or deep tissue/therapeutic, you can look forward to a peaceful environment. I will have soothing music playing and a fountain trickling in the background, all to encourage relaxation. You are welcome to bring in your own music that you already know helps you relax. The lights are generally dimmed during the session.

An important part of achieving your goals during a bodywork session is communication. There is a common trend with clients receiving massages where they don’t speak up when a therapist uses a technique that is not right for their body. I encourage you to vocalize your discomfort, if any. What may feel great and be highly effective for one client may feel terrible and possibly cause harm to you. Throughout the session, I will ask about the level of pressure and you should take this opportunity to communicate the level in which you feel comfortable, asking for more or less. Remember, I customize the session to meet your wellness needs for every session. Your input is vital to this process!

After the massage is finished, you will once again be provided with privacy in order to get dressed. Once dressed, I will conduct a brief post-assessment to evaluate any changes since the beginning of your session. At this time you will be responsible for paying for your therapy session. You may take time to ask me any questions you have and to book your next therapy session.

You are welcome to relax after your session in the waiting area and enjoy a complimentary cup of hot tea or a cool glass of water. If you loved your experience and know a family member or friend that would appreciate bodywork, gift certificates are available!
